Google To Invest $300 Million To Fight Fake News

In its bid to promote quality journalism and fight the world of fake news with misinformation on the internet, search engines giant Google has pledges a massive $300 million to the initiative. The new known as Google News Initiative according to its Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler, will help elevate and strengthen quality journalism; evolve business models to drive sustainable growth; and empower news organizations through technological innovation.

According to Schindler who said in a company blog post, reveal the company is working hard to achieve this fate. Schindler wrote;
We invested a lot time and energy in these collaborations. But the hard truth is all of this might not be enough.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish what’s true (and not true) online. Business models for journalism continue to change drastically. The rapid evolution of technology is challenging all institutions, including the news industry — to keep pace.
The search engine giant has been criticized for helping to circular fake new in recent time, and as part of the initiative is the MediaWise, a U.S.-based partnership bringing together the Poynter Institute, Stanford University Education Group, and the Local Media Association.

The initiative also include improving the subscription for news by using users Google account to provide a secure and safer means of payment as well as making it easy for you to manage your subscriptions all in one place.
