Sony Xperia R1 And Xperia R1 Plus Gets Android 8.0 Oreo Update

The Sony Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus, are two new mid-range smartphones launched exclusively in India last October. Both device comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa Core processor running on Android 7.1 Nougat. During the launched, Sony made it known that the smartphone will be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update.

In fulfillment of its promise, the company few days ago, started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to the smartphones. Announcing this via tweeter, Sony Xperia India wrote;
The new #Sony #Xperia #R1 can now be upgraded to the latest Android 8.0 Oreo. Have you updated it yet? Know more:
Android 8.0 Oreo update comes with features such as like notification channels, improvements including Background limits, Snooze notifications, Picture in Picture (PIP) display and more.

The update comes with a build number S001011_180224 and will bring features like; 
  • Reminders for unfinished tasks such as emails in drafts and messages. 
  • Brings a new feature called Xperia actions which intelligently suggests actions based on your usage with all new games and community features. 
  • And also brings contextual menus for app shortcuts which on long pressing will show more options.
While the update may be ongoing, it may interest you to know that some people have complained about Wi-fi SSID connection and some third-party app crashes after the completion of the update.
