WhatsApp Beta Introduces Locked Audio Recording For Android

WhatsApp beta version 2.18.102 is introducing the locked audio recordings feature for Android device. This is coming after it introduced a new feature that allows users to notify their contacts about change of their number. The new feature improves the existing audio recording (voice messaging) feature.

How this works, is that a user will have to tap the “mic” icon in the chat and, after 0.5 seconds, WhatsApp will show the lock microphone button. After seeing the ‘lock microphone button’ you will have to slide up your finger for enabling the lock recording. After locking the audio recording, the U.I again lets you navigate back to the chat without holding the microphone button.

Before now, users had to keep the audio recording button pressed while recording a message during a chat. With the new update, you don't have to hold on to the device while recording. All you need to do is activate the Lock Audio recording feature and you are good to go. WhatsApp in the next releases could enable option to listen to your voice message before sending it.

The locked audio recording feature is currently available to Android users and will be soon available to iOS. Beta tester can directly update the update from the Play Store, but if you are not, you can still download the APK from HERE.
