How to Fix Google Pixel 2 Blurry Panorama Issue Using Root Method

Google Pixel 2 has been plagued by blurry panorama issue for over 9 months without a fix. The problem appears when trying to take a photo, but the resulting image appears to be out of focus. After many complains from users of the device on Google Product forums, it appears we may have a fix. Although for this to be possible, you have to root your smartphone, which will rendy your warrant, invalid.


The Google Pixel 2 was announced in October, 2017 featuring a 5 inches AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 graphic card. The smartphone rocks a 64/128GB internal storage, with a 4GB RAM.

Note: This fix, is for device with firmware version walleye-opm4.171019.021.q1-factory-a4b25146.

How to Fix Google Pixel 2 Blurry Panorama Issue 
Stay by rooting your device and then install ADB & Fastboot tools on your PC/laptop.
You can use any of the methods below.

1) Using ADB Commands:
  • To use this method, connect your smartphone to PC/laptop using a USB cable
  • Then open the command prompt on your PC/laptop.
  • And then Enter the following commands below.

adbpush<<PATH_TO_DOWNLOADED_SO_FILE>> /data/local/tmp
adb shell mount -o remount,rw /vendor
adb shell cp /data/local/tmp/camera.msm8998.patch3.so /vendor/lib/hw
adb shell mv /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.so /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.old.so
adb shell mv /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.patch3.so /vendor/lib/hw/camera.msm8998.so
  • Reboot your smartphone and you are done.

2) Using Magisk Module
  • This method involves you download the “Pixel 2 Blurry Panorama Fix” module in Magisk and install it on your Pixel smartphone.
  • Then Open Magisk app and tap on “Downloads” option.
  • Now search for “Pixel 2 Blurry Panorama Fix” and tap on the download button.
  • A popup will appear, click on “Install” 
  • This will download and install the module.
  • And finally reboot your device and you are done.
