Moto G5 And Moto G5S Plus Gets Android 8.1 Oreo Update

Good news users of Moto G5 and Moto G5S Plus as Motorola has officially starts rolling out Oreo update to the smartphones in India, Brazil and Mexico. Users of for the Moto G5 Plus in India and Brazil will gets the updates and Moto G5 users in Mexico will also be getting the update. The new update comes with Android security patch for the month of August, 2018.

Motorola, back in September last year confirmed that it will be rolling out the Android 8.0 update for a range of smartphones which includes Moto G5 series. In line with keeping to its promise, these phones are getting the Android 8.1 update directly, skipping Android 8.0. The company began Android 8.1 (Oreo) soak test for the Moto G5 Plus users in India and Brazil back in July.

This update introduces changes including the following:

  • Android  8.1 Oreo : many enhancements including new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls and improved data saver, battery features, new power menu UI and Bluetooth improvements.
  • Android security: includes the updates of Android security patches
  • Stability improvements: includes changes that fix bugs and improve the stability of your phone.
NOTE: The Android 8.1 Oreo update for the phones are about 1.2GB in size
